Earth-Fault Loop Impedance Testing

Earth Fault Loop Impedance -Is the path followed by fault current when a low impedance fault occurs between the phase conductor and earth (earth fault loop) Fault current is driven round the loop by the supply voltage. The higher the impedance, the lower the fault current will be and the longer it will take for the circuit breaker or similar to operate.

To make sure the protection operates fast enough, the loop impedance must be low. Every circuit must be tested to make sure that the actual loop impedance does not exceed that specified for the protective device concerned. It is recommended that the Ze test be done first

Often the Earthing can be found to be defective which may need urgent repairs / upgrading as may be required. (Or the MEN link is not connected at all, major defect) You May Need an Upgraded Earth Stake.

Net Metering -Is the most common method for home owners to connect there solar panels, for you to obtain the immediate benefit of the power that your solar panels are producing. Remember to complete your new Network Connection Application with your Local Power Supplier online.

Gross Metering requires that you have an additional Meter installed to allow for the exporting of your solar panels power .This Meter will export your power directly through that export Meter to the grid and your existing Metering remains the same.

(DRED - Demand Response Enabling Device)

When Outside Peak Demand is High. The DRED Kit now fitted is able to be activated by the Power Authority. Smart device activates DRM3 mode for the DRED system.
(DRM3 mode specifies that the appliance ie. air conditioner must limit the electricity demand to 75% of its rated consumption)

If your air conditioner was only lightly loaded and the compressor was already running less than 75% of capacity, then you will not notice any difference.
