Our preferred Brand of Smoke Alarms is the Clipsal Fire-Tek 755 Series Generation 4 Photoelectric Smoke Alarms. (Not compataiable with 3rd party products)
Mixing of different brands of interconected Smoke Alarms is Not Allowed.
Mains Operated Interconnected Smoke Alarms Must Share The Same Circuit.
The use of the Wireless Smoke Alams Clipsal Lithium Model, will be installed where cabling would be prohibitive and connected via the approved wireless system to make the existing mains operated interconnected Clipsal Smoke Alarms totally connected.
(some times models have to be updated totally)
Note well- Regardles all Smoke Alarms now being installed must be of the interconnected type.
Important DIY Maintenance- (Pre beeping) ...Vacuum your Smoke Alarms Regularly.
Replace battery at least every 12 months.
Use 1st April as Your Reminder to Replace Batteries or as necessary... Do Not Be An April Fool - Change Your Smoke Alarm Batteries!
If your Smoke Alarm still beeps after vacuuming and replacing the Battery - there are no serviceable parts.it will require replacing.

These requirement require Interconected Photoelectric Smoke Alarms to be installed now. Replacement of all Smoke Alarms must be replaced every 10 years.
Photoelectric Smoke Alarms must be of the interconected type. The mains operated Photoelectric Smoke Alarms with interconnectivity must be installed within all Bedrooms, Passageways, Main Entrance & other additional places too. Tested & meeting all of the requirements of the current standards
The new legislation which became effective from 1 Jan 2017 Mandatory requirement for new homes & major alterations must upgrade to the new requirements now.
Interconnected Photoelectric Smoke Alarms shall be fitted by 1 January 2022 in all Homes Leased and Sold
and shall be fitted in all Homes by 1 January 2027. (The Wireless models can be fitted, at this stage these are mostly used when wiring is not possible to install. Also they are expensive)
Your existing Ionisation types of Smoke Alarm must be removed from service now and upgraded A.S.A.P. with the Mains Operated Interconnected types of Photo Electric Smoke Alarms. All Smoke Alarms expire after 10 years.
